Nourish Your Body with Hydration, Movement, and Comfort Foods

The new year is the perfect time to give your body a little extra love! Here are some simple, feel-good ways to treat yourself right:

  • Hydration Reset: Start your day with warm lemon water. It’s more than just refreshing; it supports digestion, rehydrates your body after sleep, and helps you feel grounded first thing in the morning. You can also try infused water with cucumber, mint, or berries for a flavorful twist. Don’t forget herbal teas like chamomile or green tea—hydrating and packed with benefits. If you find yourself needing to add electrolytes I like the ones from Just Ingredients.

A warm cup of tea is a great way to nourish your winter body.

  • Move in a Way That Feels Good: The best movement is the one you enjoy. Try yoga to stretch and connect (my favorite is Yin Yoga), a spontaneous dance session in your kitchen, or a calming walk outdoors. I have set a goal to walk 20 minutes everyday, outdoors if at all possible. It isn't a long time but it gets me moving and the man is joining me so it's a win/win. We are going to increase the length as we go, but it's a start. It’s about finding joy in motion, not checking off an exercise box. If you’re short on time, even 10 minutes of stretching or light cardio can make a difference.

  • Cozy Comfort Foods: Winter calls for warmth and nourishment. Think hearty soups, roasted veggies, and herbal teas that not only taste amazing but also give your body the care it craves. If you want to learn more about creating your own teas there is a great course available through The Herbal Academy. Adding hydration-rich foods like oranges, cucumbers, and celery to your meals can also boost hydration levels while nourishing your body. This is HANDS DOWN one of the best soups I've ever tasted...Green Chile Pork Pozole. Our whole family loved it and it is comfort food at it's very best.

  • Hydration Reminders: Struggle to drink enough water? Set reminders on your phone or use a smart water bottle that tracks your intake. Keeping a reusable bottle nearby can also make it easier to sip throughout the day. You know you have your favorite...just keep that puppy filled and readily available.

Take care of yourself this winter by focusing on these simple ways to hydrate, move, and nourish your body. Little changes can make a big difference in how you feel! Feel free to share your favorite ways to nourish your body during winter, I love to hear new ideas (especially yummy recipes!).
