Refresh Your Mind: Simple Rituals to Refresh and Reset for the New Year

Kickstarting 2025 with a Fresh Perspective

Can you believe 2025 is just weeks away? The holidays are right here, but my mind is already drifting to the fresh start ahead. I don’t really do New Year’s resolutions, but I do love choosing a word of the year to guide me. It feels like a softer, more open way to welcome change.

This year, I thought it would be fun to share a little series on starting the new year off strong—with simple tools and ideas to help you create a life that feels beautiful and intentional. Let’s build our toolboxes together and step into the new year with clarity and purpose. What’s your favorite way to start fresh?

Clear your mind with journaling.

Let’s talk about giving your mind a reset—because we all need one sometimes! Here are some simple ways to make space for a fresh start:

  • Journaling: Spend 10 minutes thinking about the past year. What made you happy? What helped you grow? Take this into the new year with you. Journaling is a great way to keep your mind healthy. Even better, incorporate some creativity in your journal. Bullet journaling is a fun way to do this, or do a little junk journaling and add photos, ticket stubs, drawings. This is one of my favorite workshops to make your own!

If you struggle with journaling here are a few prompts to get you started.

    Journaling Prompts

    1. What am I most proud of this year?

    2. What lessons did I learn from hard moments?

    3. What do I want to let go of?

    4. What do I want to focus on in the year ahead?

  • Learn Breathing Techniques: Keep it easy. Try a breathing exercise: breathe in for four counts, hold for four, and breathe out for six. Each breath can feel like a mini reset.

  • Vision Boards: Dream big and turn those dreams into a collage. Use magazines (this is my favorite one), Pinterest, or your own drawings to make something inspiring. I've taken this course and really enjoyed it, it takes vision boards to a whole new level! You can also electronically create one on Canva.

Take some time for yourself to try one or two of these ideas. Even small steps can make a big difference in how you feel as the new year begins. I'd love to hear about what you try! What's your favorite way to refresh your mind? Share in the comments, or send me a message, I'm always looking for new inspiration.
